Kindergarten, First and Second

Welcome to the K-2nd page! This page will be completely devoted to the students in Kindergarten, First and Second grade Physical Education. My goal is to be the first P.E. teacher that I know of to have digital video of the students practicing the skills and games that we do on a daily basis at Cleveland Elementary. My goal is to give the parents an understanding of what their sons and daughters learn in Physical Education. I hope that this will show you how much energy and effort your children give in P.E. twice a week. I hope you like it. The Second Nine Weeks

The younger students started a new unit called "Bean Bag Boogie". This unit starts with such skills as balancing challenges, locomotor activities, and tossing and catching skills. The students have learned how to balance a bean bag on various body parts, move around, beside and over the bean bag, and even got to try some "tricks". They learned to toss a bean bag in to air and catch it by their waist, by the their knees and as close to the ground as possible without dropping the bean bag, and trying to toss the bean bag up in the air and catching it behind their back. The students have done a wonderful job so far in this unit and I look forward to seeing what they can do with the rest of it. Kindergarten, first and second grades will start learning how to throw for distance, work with partners, and non-locomotor moves (twisting, turning, bending, and stretching).

The next couple of units will be "Having a Ball" which is working with and manipulation of different kinds of P.E. balls, "Let's Hit It" which works on hitting and striking skills, and "Superkid Stunts" which will work on movement challenges. It will certainly be a busy couple of weeks for the students in Physical Education.
