Third, Fourth, and Fifth

Welcome to the 3rd - 5th page!   This page will be completely devoted to the students in Third, Fourth and Fifth grade Physical Education.   My goal is to be the first P.E. teacher that I know of to have digital video of the students practicing the skills and games that we do on a daily basis at Cleveland Elementary.   My goal is to give the parents an understanding of what their sons and daughters learn in Physical Education.   I hope that this will show you how much energy and effort your children give in P.E. twice a week.   I hope you like it.   If you do, please sign my guest book and drop me a note or go to the home page and drop me an e-mail.   Thanks for your time and interest.

The Second Nine Weeks

We started the second nine weeks off with soccer skills. The older students learned out to pass, trap, and a soccer ball, bump with their knee and their head, work with both the right and left side of their bodies, and work with a partner. The skills part of this lesson lead up to a game called "Sidelines Soccer". This game is divided into three distinct sections:  sideline players, backs/goalies, and fowards. This game plays just the real one except the three areas had specified areas in which they could move. The fowards tried to score on the opposing team. The backs tried to get the ball out of their "yard" while helping the goalies. The goalies tried to keep the other team from scoring. The students loved playing this game and they did a great job at it.

We then moved onto fitness-oriented games such as "Scooter Ball", "Capture 3", "Aerobic Scrabble" and "Aerobic Numbers". Currently, the students are enjoying some old favorites such as "Prison Ball" and "Crazy Kickball". The next couple of weeks will bring on the most favorite unit of the year...Dance. The students will be going over "The Cha-Cha Slide", "The Electric Slide", "The Chicken Dance", "The Bus Stop", and possible some country line dances. I know they will be excited to hear about that. I look forward to seeing their smiling faces turn to groans and moans when I tell them we have dance ...laughs. I look forward to the next couple of weeks.
